Principal's Message - November

By Andrew Macphail

I would like to thank all of our parents who took the time to show up for our parent teacher interviews this past week. By all indications the turn out was very good as we want to continue to strongly encourage our parents to stay in touch with their son or daughter’s teachers. If you were unable to make that day you are still able to contact your son or daughter’s teachers via email and feel free to set up an appointment after school with their teachers if you would like. All of our teachers’ e-mails can be found on our website at

Our basketball season is up and running with our senior girls playing their first game this week and our senior boys playing in their first tournament this weekend. We have managed to obtain coaches for all of our teams which we are thankful for. We are currently running Jr. girls, Sr. girls, Gr. 9 boys, Jr. boys and Sr. boys. It makes for a busy gym season. A special thanks to our volleyball coaches, Ms. Hunt, Mr. Muermann and Mr. Domke who supported our girls and boys volleyball teams which have wrapped up for the fall season.

A big thank-you to those who helped organize and conduct our special Remembrance Day Ceremony. To Mr. Lane and Mrs. Webster for organizing the program, all the colour guard and speakers, to Sunny Hansra our former grad who spoke on behalf of the Canadian Armed Forces, to Mrs. Toews who led the service, for Mr. Macphail and his tech preparations ensuring all works, for Mr. McLeod for his band performance and others who took on the challenge of loading the gym. Also, thank-you to the parents who were able to join us. Our students were well behaved and the service went smoothly.

The year is moving along quickly as Christmas and holidays are just around the corner. Two important events coming soon this month are our Christmas Dinner and Performance on Thurs. Dec. 13. We will need parent supervisors and helpers for this event. Please contact Mr. Currie at Our Christmas Band Concert will be on the evening of Wed. Dec. 19.

I trust this season will be one of enjoyable family time and the creation of fond memories. Remember if you have any questions about school events or procedures etc. please give us a call at 604-850-7029.

Sincerely, Glen Hildebrand, Principal, ATSS
